Directions

The hike leads into the Garneraschlucht or the Fenggatobel, named after the Fenggen (spirits) who allegedly lived in caves here. The Garnerabach, which created this natural monument, originates from the glacier of the Plattenspitze. Halfway through the gorge, it forms an impressive waterfall. On the steep slopes, a typical gorge biotope has formed, little affected by humans. As a special feature, you can find the rare magnificent saxifrage (Saxifraga cotyledon) here. From the Versettla Bahn towards Ganeu, from the bridge the path follows the Garnerabach. After about half an hour, you reach the Fenggatobel fork. Here begins a nicely laid out but strenuous path through the gorge. The small detour to the waterfall is recommended. At the end of the gorge, you reach the alpine pasture settlement Ganeu. Further downstream, the farm track crosses the brook. At the Schwizerhüsli, the descent to Gaschurn begins. Those who want to avoid the descent can reach the middle station of the Versettla Bahn in just under half an hour from Schwizerhüsli.

Tips

A small detour to the waterfall.
