A varied bike tour through the Ganifertal valley and past the Kops Reservoir to the Klostertaler Environmental Hut, featuring breathtaking views of the peaks and glaciers of the Silvretta.

From St. Gallenkirch, follow the bike path to Partenen, then ride up through the Ganifertal valley—which is partly steep and largely traffic-free—to the Kops Reservoir, and continue over the Zeinisjoch toward Galtür and Lake Silvretta. At Silvrettasee, the route follows the eastern shore of the lake to the entrance of the Klostertal valley and continues to the Klostertaler Umwelthütte, from where you’ll take the same path back to St. Gallenkirch.

(E-)Bike Transport to the Silvretta-Bielerhöhe

As an alternative to the ascent via the Ganifertal and the Kops Reservoir, you can have your (e-)bike transported from Partenen to the Silvretta-Bielerhöhe at 2,032 meters via the Vermuntbahn and the tunnel bus. Bike transport is available only for the ascent and must be reserved online in advance, as only a limited number of bikes can be transported per time slot. The return trip to the Montafon is made by bike via Galtür, the Kops Reservoir, and the Ganifertal.

The Silvretta High Alpine Road is expected to remain closed until summer 2030. This is due to several rockfalls and mudslides that have occurred since 2024, as well as the extensive construction and protective measures required as a result. Therefore, this tour is currently only possible via the Ganifertal Valley and the Kops Reservoir.

Driving along the shore of Lake Silvretta is permitted only on the east side, up to the entrance to the Klostertal valley. Between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., you should avoid this section if possible due to the high volume of hikers. Pedestrians and hikers have the right of way at all times.

The Klostertaler Umwelthütte is an ideal starting point for combining a bike tour with a mountain or hiking tour to create a “bike-and-hike” tour. This shortens the approach and allows you to immerse yourself more deeply in the high-alpine landscape of the Silvretta.

Popular destinations from the Klostertaler Umwelthütte include the Rote Furka (2,688 m) with views of the Silvretta Glacier, the Tälihorn, the Klostertaler Spitze, the Sonntagsspitze, and the Schneeglocke (3,223 m).
