This cozy round is well suited for an extended afternoon walk. There are dining options on the route (Schruns town center, JUFA Montafon and Schapler bakery branch as well as Liberty snack bar in Gantschier/Kaltenbrunnen, and also Tschagguns town center). The walking route is ideal for children. A large part of the route runs through forest sections. At the Landschrofen-Känzili viewpoint, children can linger, play in the forest, or get creative. The JUFA Montafon (large indoor playground) is only a few meters from the route. And if you do not want to walk any further in Gantschier (Kaltenbrunnen), you can return to Schruns by bus or train.
On the route, you can expect great views: From Montjola (Broxweg) you can see Schruns-Tschagguns from above and have the Zimba mountain peak in sight. From Gauenstein Monastery, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Montafon landmark, the famous Three Towers in the Rätikon. Depending on visibility and weather, the Three Towers are within reach (especially in föhn weather). From Krista, you face Hochjoch with Muttjöchle on Kristberg in Silbertal visible to the left. On the bridge after the playground in Tschaggunser Au, the parish church Mariä Geburt is presented on a silver platter – by the way, this view of the church is a popular photo motif in every season.
Gauenstein Monastery
The Gauenstein Monastery is one of the most beautiful establishments of the Capuchins in Vorarlberg. Since the beginning of the 18th century, there was a hermitage here with one or two forest brothers. The chapel was consecrated on July 25, 1721, by the Prince-Bishop of Chur in honor of the Sorrowful Mother Mary.
