Silvretta Park Montafon (Valisera cable car valley station) – Valschaviel valley – Valschaviel alpine pasture – Mardusa – Inner Rossberg – Rossberg Cattle Hut (the last approx. 300 meters must be walked on foot, the hut is not serviced) – return (same route)
From the starting point of the route in St. Gallenkirch, you cycle on the bike path to the Mountain Beach in Gaschurn. Here the route turns left into the unspoiled Valschaviel valley – with its waterfalls and old alpine farming settlements, one of the most original side valleys of Montafon. On the wide gravel road, the route to the Valschaviel alpine pasture becomes quite a challenging affair with a constant ascent. Past the picturesque fish pond, accompanied by mountain streams, you then ride through slightly flatter terrain into the back of the valley to the Mardusa Alp. The final ascent just before the shepherd's hut on the inner Rossberg (2,160 m) demands full concentration again; from here you walk about 300 meters to the hut. Once at the top, a magnificent panorama of the surrounding mountain landscape awaits you.
The hut is not serviced!
Here you gain distance from everyday life, because apart from a few wild animals, you only see the beautiful nature.
The same way leads back again. Since there are no dining options, you should bring a backpack with sufficient provisions. If enough time is planned, the route can also be combined with a hike to the Valschaviel lake or to the Albonakopf (2482 m).
Important note:
Mountain biking is only permitted in the Verwall European protected area between June 15 and October 15 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on marked routes. On the Silbertal - Tyrol route, the time restriction applies from June 15 to September 15. More information at: http://www.naturvielfalt.at/verwall/
